Why You Should Be Using Google Data Studio with Google Analytics

There’s a lot of work involved in running the digital marketing portion of your business – we all know this is true. You could spend hours, even days, trying to figure out the right metrics to pull from Google Analytics, Search Console, and other platforms to put together a report that shows the (hopeful) uptick of your business’s online presence. Being bombarded with so many different graphs and numbers is certainly overwhelming, but Google Data Studio is here to save the day.

What is Google Data Studio?

Google Data Studio is an easy-to-use dashboard and reporting tool that allows you to visualize the data from your website through highly configurable charts and tables. This tool is great for tracking KPIs that support your business objectives, and then some. All in all, Data Studio allows you to spend far less time building reports, and more time focusing on the proper insights to your business’s online success.

The Benefits of Data Studio

As our digital marketing agency has switched over to using Data Studio for reporting metrics for our clients’ websites, we’ve found there are several benefits to using this tool.

Updates in Real-Time

These reports are collected in real-time, and they’re interactive. This means that you can change your report, send it to people, and they can change the date rage and even add filters to get down to the exact metrics they’re concerned with.

Report Customization

With Data Studio, you can create fully customizable dashboards. You can start creating your report with a blank template or you can choose from a pre-programmed template. You can easily drag and drop charts, data, and other widgets to track what you or your clients are most interested in seeing. This feature also allows you to choose different fonts and colors to match your company. (Thank you, Google, for making reports far more visually pleasing than a ton of numbers bunched together.)

Price

As of right now, Data Studio is FREE! That’s right. We said free. Prior versions of Data Studio only allowed you to create five reports per account, but reports and access to them are unlimited and free.

Shareable

Just like a Google Doc, you can share Data Studio reports with anyone by sending them a shareable link. Anyone you give access to can view the report, and you can set the View and Edit permissions just like you can in a regular Google Doc. You can send as many reports to as many people as you’d like!

Time is money. Saving time on reporting means more money. It’s never too late to switch your reporting to Google Data Studio – so what are you waiting for?!
