Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2020
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is dedicated to celebrating the success of strong, fearless women around the globe, who pursue their dream of owning their own businesses and taking control of their time and freedom. Since our team at Tandem Interactive is women-led, we wanted to highlight this special day in November and share the history behind it.
“Here’s to strong women; may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them” – Unknown
What is Women’s Entrepreneurship Day?
Celebrated every year on November 19, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day was created by Wendy Diamond after returning from a volunteer trip to Honduras, where she was inspired to begin a movement that empowered women in business to improve poverty conditions.
The first time Women’s Entrepreneurship Day was celebrated was November 19, 2014, at the UN Headquarters in New York and was broadcast to 114 countries. Wendy also created a Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization; whose mission is to encourage women and girls to participate in economies in leadership and entrepreneurship roles.
Ways to Celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day
If your business is wanting to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, there are a few ways to do so without being in a Women’s Entrepreneurship Day sponsored event. As always, our digital marketing agency and social media specialists are here to help bring your campaigns to life!
Create an event to empower women in your local community.
Reaching out to make an impact on the women entrepreneurs in your community can be huge! Nothing says women empowerment like holding a clinic or seminar for young professional women to learn more about a particular field. If you can, bringing in guest speakers who are experts to talk on the subject and provide real-life experiences can also be really engaging and uplifting.
Host a networking event for women business leaders.
There is no better way to boost the women in your community on Women’s Entrepreneurship Day than to have a networking event that focuses on women in leadership roles. Share stories of success, hardship, and failure that may speak to a woman who is just starting her entrepreneurial journey or who is finding herself in a tough spot on her entrepreneurial journey. Even a digital seminar via Zoom or Skype during these unstable times can provide women entrepreneurs a platform to inspire and be inspired.
Reach out to up-and-coming women in leadership via social platforms.
There may be a young girl looking to get a start in her career or a woman ready to make the change and be her own boss in your community. Create posts centered around these women to find them in your community and mentor them. Women’s Entrepreneurship Day may only be on the calendar for one day, but it can be celebrated all month or year.
Tandem is a boutique digital marketing agency that was founded in 2006 by Joe Laratro, but today, Tandem is a mostly women-led digital marketing agency under the direction of Brittni Swenson.
With an extensive background in the psychology of sales and advertising, she utilized her skills as part of the original team that launched the boat brand SeaHunter. Her experience and success in branding led her to leave her hometown of Key Largo for the mainland. She found her home at Tandem where she made her mark in paid advertising and neuromarketing.
In her years at Tandem, Brittni has been the point of contact for over a thousand accounts, handling over $2.5 million in monthly ad spend, and has been the prodigy of SEO legend, Joe Laratro. She has helped launch over 450 new businesses who have shown exponential growth from her advertising guidance. Brittni also inspires her team of fearless women, encouraging them every day to reach their highest potentials and that there is no limit to what they can accomplish.
